Refrigeration Tech is a vital role in the daily operations of our facility. The role will be required to troubleshoot, ensuring proper maintenance and operational status of refrigeration systems, using a variety of hand tools to set up, break down, adjust machinery, and perform other duties pertaining to hydraulics, hot water systems, pneumatics, compressors, and ammonia systems, all while making safety the number one priority. Refrigeration requires being able to read manuals written in English, the ability to write and document information in English, and the ability to use basic math skills during normal daily routines.
While performing the duties of Refrigeration, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces; moving mechanical parts, chemicals; fast paced warm/cool environment. Positions require standing the entire shift and the use of PPE is required in all areas of the facility.
This role is required to be a member of the location Hazmat Response Team which includes being able to wear a respirator.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the maintenance, repair, upgrade, and appearance of all Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration and environmental equipment in the facility. Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Using hand tools to perform maintenance on machinery
- Ensuring food safety and quality
- Cleanliness and housekeeping
- Maintenance of electrical and control circuits associated with refrigeration equipment.
- Coil and equipment cleaning
- Maintenance of Evaporative Condenser Units
- Repair and maintenance of Freon condenser and evaporator coils
- Repair/Replace fan motors and fan blades
- Install and repair various valves and other components in ammonia systems
- Use math to document changes in the system levels, pressures, etc.
- Use computer to complete data entry
- Maintaining a safe working environment
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to work in a cold to warm environment
- Ability to work with a variety of hand tools
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to perform basic math
- Must pass a respirator fit test and physical
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous production/maintenance/refrigeration experience
- RETA CARO certification
- Previous Company experience
- Previous food manufacturing experience
