SUMMARY OF POSITION
• Assist and support the Facility department which is responsible for event set-up and tear down, loading dock management, and the management event-related equipment for the Hawai’i Convention Center and its clients.
• Applies principles of our Mission Statement, Vision, HCC Values and ENCORE principles to role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Sets and dismantles room set up, tear down, changes and turns.
• Effectively Lead shift crews (labor) by delegating duties, assigning tasks, and following up with all team members as directed by Facility Manager.
• Receives and completes requests from Food and Beverage department.
• Reports all changes of work orders to Facility Manager.
• Maintains inventory control program under the direction of the Facility Manager.
• Participate in routine physical inventory. Makes recommendations to Management of program improvements as needed.
• Reports Facility damages to appropriate management teams, staff and departments.
• Maintains facilities equipment.
• Manages projects of preventative and routine maintenance from start to finish. Collaborates, as needed, with various departments to ensure high quality and timely project completion.
• Responsible for training all Facilities staff on a regular basis on various topics including, but not limited to: safety, daily logs, event resumes, and SOP’s.
• Assists in establishing schedules and maintains adequate staffing for event and non-event operations.
• Coordinates the work flow via company in-house systems. This may include, but is not limited to, Daily Shift Reports and Event Reports for client specifications.
• Performs other related duties as may be required or assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead staff in absence of Manager in the Facilities department. Recommends hiring of new employees, terminations, performance management and initiates personnel actions.
• Assists in the assigning of work for contract labor crews in department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• One (1) year of responsible on the job experience in facility related services
• Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Forklift
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• Knowledge of event set-up and loading dock operations as they apply to the center.
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Maintain a working knowledge of operations and safety of machinery.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment and have working knowledge of computer operations including but not limited MS Office and in-house systems (such as USI and Microix).
• Ability to establish and maintain a system for assuring high standards of productivity within the department
• Ability to maintain an on-going list by priority of projects and tasks, to assume timely and effective solutions to unanticipated client focused issues
• Demonstrate ability to work under deadlines or pressure.
• Must be able to operate specialized lifts, machinery, jacks, radios, and company vehicle.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
• Hours of work and days vary depending on event schedules.
• This position may primarily work second (afternoon) shift.
• Availability to work additional hours or weekends, as schedule requires.
