Under the direction of the Shift Leader and Production Supervisor/Manager, the Extrusion Operator is responsible for set up and operation of machinery to combine dry and liquid chemicals into customer products. Ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost and meets customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
Demonstrates team work in all phases of the operation.
Sets up and starts all machines, checking all controls for adherence to mixing/blending procedures.
Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specification, ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and delivers materials into machinery.
Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
Assist respool with coil samples, packaging of reels, strapping of reels and any Jomar transactions needed.
Examines materials visually in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
May take samples to quality control for testing.
Follows lab instruction as to adding raw materials to the batch to bring it into specifications.
Labels finished product.
Refers issues/problems supervisor for disposition.
Performs all required machine cleaning.
Completes and maintains all required SAP transactions.
Demonstrates expertise in the use of SAP.
Documents work completed.
Actively leads safety initiatives on the production floor.
Accurately completes and updates required paperwork such as production logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
Participates in training new employees and re-training present departmental employees in processes and methods as required.
Completes all necessary documentation at the end of shift.
Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
Maintain and help lead preventative maintenance, i.e. emptying vacuum tanks, clean in-line strainer baskets, and empty dust collector drums.
Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
Follows applicable ISO, EH&S rules and guidelines while performing any procedure.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
US High School diploma, GED equivalency or equivalent experience
One (1) month to Two (2) years of industrial/manufacturing experience
Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to apply these skills to weights, measures of volume and distance.
Must effectively communicate in writing and verbally in English.
Competency in computer and PC software including email, internet, and MS office.
Must have manual dexterity for hand tools of various types.
Required to lift and/or move up to 55lbs
Must be able to drive fork lift.
Must have problem solving skills and some mechanical aptitude.
