Job Overview
The Operations Efficiency position will lead global innovation efforts in support of Core Innovation’s mission to attack waste through sustainable-based solutions. The focus will be to enable waste prevention in our internal operations. As leader of Operations Efficiency, this position will be accountable to understand key financial drivers, bring forward specific, strategic project proposals, and oversee a project portfolio to ensure measurable outcomes are delivered. This position is responsible for developing an overall strategic plan, global in scope, that defines short, medium and long-term approaches to innovation and commercialization. This strategic plan will be a road map for managing projects and resources to enable a series of profitable growth outcomes.
This position will have direct management responsibilities for technical staff and budgetary responsibilities. A key aspect of this role will be to continuously develop the leadership abilities and technical capabilities within their organization to create a pipeline of talented individuals, with potential to take on increasing responsibilities and drive broader impacts across Company.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a changing environment will be critical as both the technology and the business environment continue to evolve. It is essential that this role develop cross-company relationships to ensure alignment and focus of Program resources.
This position will be based in Charlotte at Company Headquarters.
Job Description
The responsibilities for this position are as follows:
1. Drive the strategic plan for the Core Innovation Program, that encompasses multiple project teams working toward short, medium and long-term deliverables. Develop and manage a technology road map for the overall program in collaboration with Core Innovation, Food Care, Product Care, Supply Chain, and other relevant parts of the organization.
2. Direct management responsibility for a group of 8-15 people internal to Company. Identify any external resources, or collaborators that can accelerate progress toward project commercialization objectives.
3. Responsible for developing annual operating and capital budgets and managing expenses within those budgets.
4. Assess and support the career development needs of technical staff to ensure continued progression and expansion of capabilities. Mentor and coach employees to expand technical and leadership skills, as well as developing insight into how to overcome challenges and frame business opportunities.
5. Drive overall innovation program success, ensuring clear deliverables and ownership of individual projects.
◦ Create and drive program level work plans
◦ Define and secure resources to effectively deliver projects in the program
◦ Define and actively manage overall program risks and related actions, as needed
◦ Manage overall scope to ensure step-wise delivery of projects in the road map (short, medium, and long-term deliverables, including commercially viable solutions)
◦ Empower the individual project teams to meet their goals, fostering a dynamic "get it done" attitude
6. Collaborate cross-functionally (Business Divisions and other Functions) to achieve alignment, transparency and clarity of the overall program.
7. Work with Finance and Business Divisions in assessing, tracking and reporting the financial benefit and likely viability of commercial programs, along with planning and managing the appropriate project expense or capital, where required.
8. Contribute to continual improvement and refinement in overall corporate Sustainability strategy, including any changes as the strategy evolves.
9. Collaborate with overall Core Innovation team to ensure consistency in communication and sharing of best practices.
10. Report on program and key metrics associated with managing the program's success
11. Contribute to continuous improvement of working practices in Core Innovation, including dynamic and agile management of key projects.
12. Continue to maintain an awareness of technology and business trends in area of responsibility, including potential for external partnerships to accelerate program goals.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
1. Minimum BA/BS degree or equivalent in a technical discipline is required.
2. Minimum 8 years of experience working in multi-national or multi-location business, including demonstrated accomplishments in project or program management.
3. Minimum 4 years of experience successfully leading a cross-functional team in a matrix environment where a high degree of collaboration and influence is required.
4. Evidence of strong background in customer-centric discovery, innovation and product commercialization.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. Advanced technical (MS/PhD) or business degree (MBA).
2. Relevant professional certifications including PMI and / or Design for Six Sigma Black Belt
3. Experience in sustainability efforts in a major corporation.
4. Global leadership roles in marketing or innovation management.

8. Self-starter and results-oriented individual with the confidence to take risk and partner with business leaders as required.
9. Consensus builder and “change agent” with a proven track record as a strong program leader.
10. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and project management software such as MS Project or Smartsheet.
11. Proven track record of delivering projects on-time and within budget.
12. Exhibit insatiable curiosity, a willingness to question, able to articulate a vision for success, and demonstrate a collaborative, engaging teamwork approach to program management.
