DESCRIPTION:
Giant Bomb is looking for a fantastic person to come in and support our editorial and video efforts. What's a Giant Bomb? That's a great question. Giant Bomb is a video game website where we focus on what matters to players. We produce long-form video content that helps our audience get informed about new releases, classic games, and other topics of interest.
We're looking for a motivated individual to come in and work in a versatile role. You should be able to communicate in written form, you should be extremely comfortable talking into a microphone and standing in front of a camera, and you should be able to do all of these things while playing a game. You should be able to inform people in an entertaining way. The ideal candidate will also know a little bit about video production and be able to grasp the basic concepts of hitting start and stop on a recording, lightly cutting a video with consumer-grade tools, occasionally monitoring audio during a broadcast, and so on. You should also be up on how the internet works. That means you'll know how to rename a file, take a screenshot of a video, and FTP it somewhere. That means you'll have a firm grasp of social media and how to use it (or how not to use it, as the case may be).
We peer-edit our reviews, but most text goes up without a lot of editing, so your drafts should be clean. We are not currently working directly with a copyeditor.
You should be a fun-loving person with a deep understanding of how video games work. You should be opinionated without being awful about it. You should be comfortable with the idea of public speaking and be able to handle yourself in public situations.
Appear in Quick Looks! Pen some reviews! Hold down the fort while the rest of the team is out covering events and producing additional video coverage! Travel to E3 and survive to tell the tale! If this life of adventure (read: you'll sit at a desk in a cubicle near a bunch of people who have, combined, decades of experience in this crazy line of work) sounds appealing, don't hesitate! Apply immediately!
Please include samples of your previous on-camera experience, podcast/audio work, and (unedited) samples of your written work.
QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant should have a working knowledge of basic image and video editing, as well as basic knowledge of working with files, FTP clients, content entry/management systems, and other standard internet tools.
