New Balance’s eCommerce Division is located in St. Louis, MO and is responsible for creating, maintaining and providing customer service for its branded eCommerce websites. Responsibilities Participates in all aspects of the development process for international and domestic eCommerce websites and related systems. This individual will work in a highly collaborative Agile development environment and provide technical leadership to other developers. • Develops and documents technical solutions in response to requests to enhance and optimize company’s eCommerce websites • Actively contributes in coding of consumer-facing digital solutions • Assists with quality assurance activities, including unit testing, system testing, and solution validation • Performs daily builds and the promotion of code to the development environment for subsequent testing • Assists the group’s Solution Architect and Development Leads with conceptualization and execution of high level technical plans • Consults with business groups to clarify requirements and solution feasibility, and to provide technical solutions • Participates on agile project teams led by project managers OTHER DUTIES • Participates in solution discussions to expand knowledge of systems and processes • Participates in administrative process discussions designed to maximize team productivity • Assists with technical support and triage of issues as needed • Performs other duties as needed COMPETENCIES • Innovative: displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others’ attention • Initiative: undertakes self-development activities; takes independent actions and calculated risks; looks for and takes advantage of opportunities; asks for and offers help when needed • Dependability: follows instructions, responds to direction; takes responsibilities for own actions; keeps commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate personal with an alternate plan; arrives at meetings and appointments on time Qualifications • Must have a proven track record of developing and supporting mission-critical, high-volume web applications • Must possess a strong understanding of the software development life cycle and related processes • Must possess a strong proficiency with regard to web development technologies including client-side and server-side JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, AJAX, JSON, XML, XPath, XSD Schemas, XSLT Transformations • Must possess a strong proficiency designing, developing, and calling web services and other forms of remote API calls • Must be able to understand and optimize performance drivers of pages, and entire website • Must possess a strong proficiency in effectively troubleshooting high-volume online systems while minimizing impact to the customer experience • Must possess a strong understanding of key technologies including web servers, relational databases, scheduled batch jobs, data transformation, import, and export • Must be able to effectively manage time across multiple projects and priorities • Must possess demonstrable experience in advanced troubleshooting techniques • Must possess good organization and time management skills • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able and willing to effectively communicate with all users having little or no technical knowledge • Must possess excellent customer service skills with a high level of initiative EDUCATION • BA Degree in Computer Sciences, programming or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience EXPERIENCE • A minimum of 6 years of web development experience is required • A minimum of 2 years of eCommerce development experience is required • Prior experience with an eCommerce platform such as Demandware, ATG, WebSphere, or Magento is required • Prior experience with complex n-tier architectures is preferred • Prior experience with Software As A Service (SaaS) solutions is preferred • Prior experience with Eclipse, Git, Bitbucket is preferred • Prior experience with Agile/Scrum is strongly desired Our Benefit Offerings: We’re happy to provide traditional benefits, but to us, the greatest benefit of working at New Balance is taking advantage of additional programs that will enhance your life at work and at home as you grow with our business.
