Responsibilities
You believe in the power of the open web. You have endless ideas on how to make fast and beautiful internet. You know how to compel fickle audiences with quality product, design and storytelling. We have a job for you.
The role: product manager to lead web experiences for all NBC News brands, reporting to the VP of Product. To succeed, you need the drive of an entrepreneur with the finesse and seaworthiness to navigate a big newsroom inside a big company with a brand so iconic it is literally etched into huge granite pillars that flank the entrance to the building.
You need to deeply understand what it takes to convert casual users into loyal fans. And you obsess (in a way that might annoy friends and family) about UX, innovative storytelling and experimentation with new web technologies.
Your Mission Includes:
Pioneering new ideas. Don’t accept the current state of news on the internet. Change is constant, inevitable, and good. Make the change, don’t be a victim of it.
Ensuring that your teams and products are always in the best health. If something is no one’s job, then it’s your job.
Fostering an agile way of working, not for the sake of a fervent belief in a methodology, but because it will deliver outstanding results.
Measuring everything, figuring out what the data means, explaining it to everyone, and changing things accordingly. Rinse. Repeat.
Your Average Work Day Includes:
Solving the unsolvable. The CMS doesn’t support flexible layouts? You build it. The ad viewability is below par? You fix it. Messy tagging? You clean it up. Need a recommendation engine for stories? Find one. (Have we mentioned that you’re the product owner?)
Working daily with the editorial team and helping them to reinvent how to tell effective stories on the open web.
Surprising audiences, advertisers and partners...but in a good way. Building a loyal following for our products and working with sales to find the right way to monetize them.

Desired Characteristics
More About You
You get what’s happening in media today… and more importantly, what will be happening tomorrow.
Not only are you creative, but you’re great at drawing creativity out of other people. You binge on MeetUps and Medium posts.
You have just enough reality distortion to see what others miss; ‘impossible’ is just a word with two extra letters at the front.
Failed at something interesting
You have great judgment and taste...but you also love your data.
You take your job seriously, but not yourself.
