Functions as an expert practitioner who provides for the clinical needs of trauma patients (adult and children), directly and indirectly.
Provides leadership in one or more specified areas.
Plans and directs daily operations of specified areas to coordinate corporate, hospital and unit goals.
Assumes twenty-four (24) hour responsibility for the coordination of quality care of trauma patients throughout the hospital including designated inpatient trauma unit; assists Medical Director with administration of trauma services in collaboration with sub-specialties, medical teams and ancillary departments to ensure comprehensive care to all trauma patients, adult and pediatric.
Must be currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Ohio with Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s level training preferred.
Must have PALS and TNCC with instructor verification preferred.
Must receive certification as ATLS course director within twelve (12) months of date of hire.
Other certifications preferred are ACLS, ATCN, ENPC, TBLS and PTLS.
Membership in professional organizations should include The Ohio Society of Trauma Nurse Coordinators (OSTNC) and American Trauma Society (ATS).
Must have a minimum of three to five (3-5) years in program development and/or teaching; be prepared to demonstrate education, experience and professional practice to peers substantiated by current references and verifying current clinical knowledge and expertise.
Must maintain a minimum of sixteen (16) continuing trauma related nursing education units each year.
