The Director of Product Performance & Data Analytics is a new leadership role within Company Asset Management and reports to the Global Head of Product. The role will have primary accountability for identifying, defining and governing investment data and analytics that showcase proof points of Company’s investment expertise across a range of asset classes. Areas of focus will include performance, holdings characteristics, risk statistics, and attribution to inform product positioning. The Director will serve as a connector of Product, Marketing, Investment and Operations teams to strengthen the firm’s product data analytics capabilities for use in prospecting, client service, competitive product assessments and internal management reporting.
1. Develop holistic framework for defining, procuring and serving compliant investment performance and analytics data for use in product positioning and marketing
Affirm the performance and characteristic data to be used in marketing materials (e.g., Fact Sheets, Product Positioning Notes, Pitch Books, Website, etc.).
Identify and monitor performance and characteristic data that best highlights key product features and points of differentiation in collaboration with product managers.
Translate product positioning data needs to Performance Team and develop service level agreements for delivery of timely and accurate information.
Consult with Compliance to stay abreast of regulatory requirements and changes that may impact data elements required for presentation to clients and prospects.
Serve as Chairperson of GIPS Committee, ensuring GIPS composites provide appropriate representation of the firm’s strategy performance.
2. Lead the development of attribution reporting for both internal and external use
Connect the Product Management, Performance Measurement and Investment teams to advance our attribution reporting standards.
Serve as a key subject matter expert interacting with external vendors and the Technology and Reporting teams for development of both internal and client-ready attribution reporting.
Offer insights from the review of attribution to aid product managers and the Marketing Team in their product positioning efforts.
3. Develop Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting standards for our growing suite of sustainable investing products to meet client demand and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with ESG Product Managers to identify performance and analytic data that portrays E-S-G content of relevant strategies.
Work with product management and Technology partners to onboard new reporting tool sets (e.g., TruCost) to facilitate scalable reporting.
Consult with Compliance Team to establish required regulatory reporting.
Translate requirements to Reporting Team and ensure holistic process for delivery of quality information.
4. Lead internal product metrics and management reporting function
Oversee product data analyst efforts to compile competitive intelligence, produce quarterly management reporting of product metrics and support the general data analysis needs of the asset class product managers.
Manage relationships with competitive intelligence vendors (e.g., eVestment, Broadridge); contribute to the firm’s optimization of market data and vendor spend.
Partner with Operations and Technology teams to advance centralized product data hub.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
Bachelor degree; Master in Business Administration and/or CFA strongly preferred.
At least fifteen years of work experience in the investment management industry, with direct experience in performance measurement, investment reporting, or manager research/evaluation.
Understanding of Global Investment Performance Standards.
Proficiency with investment tools and databases (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg, eVestment, Morningstar Direct,etc.).
Exceptional project management skills and abilities to develop relationships across an array of asset management functions to influence outcomes.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment.
Experience managing and developing others.
