Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and leading the North America Communications strategy including media relations, influencer strategies, and digital/social campaigns through creative storytelling to drive results and increase market share, sales and profitability within the North America affiliate.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Global Marketing partners to recommend agencies for social media influencers to support seasonal campaign activations and new product launches as part of an integrated 360 campaign
• Secure and negotiate earned and paid placements including interviews, reviews, news items, giveaways, and video segments ensuring proper FTC disclosure when necessary
• Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within consumer beauty and professional salon/spa media
• Build relationships with key environmental and CSR media to secure high impact, positive exposure on the Aveda Mission
• Present North America communication strategies and programs to key stakeholders as needed
• Responsible for effectively managing the NA PR budget by providing accurate estimates and cost savings solutions
• Effectively measure and analyze to understand in detail the “why” behind the results and formulate action plans on how to accelerate, partner with senior leadership regarding changes as necessary
• Ensure alignment of overall NA communication strategies to ensure a consistent storytelling across all Aveda channels
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
8 years progressive experience within Public Relations or Communications
Other:
• Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic communication plans that drive sales results
• Experience pitching earned placements and pitching/negotiating paid placements
• Experience working within digital and traditional Public Relations environments working with national campaigns to generate reach and positive awareness
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write effective campaigns and tell the stories to support the strategy
• Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders including media, influencers and mission aligned partners
• Ability to collaborate across functions within a fast paced environment
• An entrepreneurial spirit including the ability to make decisions as if the business were one’s own
• Ability to adapt quickly to meet the demands of the business
• Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
• Ability to travel, lift up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis and transport own luggage while traveling
