The Director, Merchandise Execution is responsible for driving total store line sales growth in partnership with the store manager, along with functioning as the in-store merchandising expert. A key focus of this position is to ensure a compelling customer experience through selling and merchandise execution standards. The Director, Merchandise Execution will directly supervise, train, coach and develop a team of merchandise team managers, and be responsible for leading the total store team on merchandising standards and selling metrics. Perform other duties as necessary. This position is a bench role for Store Manager.
Drive total store line sales growth in partnership with the store manager, along with functioning as the in-store merchandising expert.
Take a leadership role within the store to deliver all Company initiatives; clearly communicate objectives and priorities to team.
Direct consistent merchandise execution for assigned store, identify product placement opportunities and ensure company merchandising strategies are successfully implemented.
Collaborate with regional partners to interpret company merchandise directives and leverage localized opportunities as appropriate.
Ensure merchandise presentation, sales and event set-up, sizing, pricing and signing standards are in line with company guidelines and branding.
Lead and own the floor planning, space allocation and seasonal strategy for the store.
Demonstrate forward thinking merchandising strategies for the store, challenging the status quo, anticipating obstacles and considering varying approaches to accomplish sales goals.
Train, develop and coach people leaders to lead consistent high level merchandise execution standards and be business leaders of their department.
Conduct merchandise execution standards training by working side by side with store colleagues.
Leverage vendors to train colleagues on merchandise standards, products features and selling techniques.
Shop the competition; observe and evaluate competitive opportunities and communicate findings to Regional Merchant.
Coach merchandise team managers and store team to execute and achieve pre-sell and drive successful events by utilizing reporting to evaluate merchandising opportunities.
Support the in-store customer experience efforts with the Store Manager; plan and execute events through selling tools and by identifying ways to eliminate friction in the shopping experience.
Establish a high level of shortage awareness and effectiveness; ensure that all policies and procedures are followed.
Assume total store leadership in absence of Store Manager and partner in the strategic planning of short and long term goals.
Maintain high customer readiness standards; ensure a clean, neat and easy to shop store environment.
Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 5-7 years of retail merchandising and management experience.
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and analytical skills.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Ability to anticipate and solve problems, act decisively and persist in the face of obstacles.
This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.
