We are currently seeking a Director for the Labor Relations Department focused on conducting investigations and issuing discipline, if needed, as well as coaching and counseling for the production units it supports, including, but not limited to, television, facilities, etc.
Investigating and resolving employee relations-related complaints of all union-represented employees in the following bargaining units: WGA, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, Basic Crafts, SEIU, UNITE-HERE, SSFA, and OPEIU.
Complaint matters include, but are not limited to, harassment & discrimination; insubordination; bullying / hostile work environment; retaliation; drugs & alcohol; conflict of interest; verbal altercations; threats and violence in the workplace; misappropriation of company property / theft.
Assessing the interconnection of employment laws that impact an investigation and its outcomes, such as, ADA, EEOC, FLSA, NLRA, etc.
Recommending and implementing the appropriate discipline, up to and including discharge, when appropriate; this may require interaction with a variety of other Company. divisions, including Corporate Legal, Security, Leave of Absence, WB Studio Facilities and other Warner television production entities.
Providing coaching and counseling to union-represented supervisory employees regarding management style.
Partnering with other Company. departments and divisions to handle threat management or leave of absence matters.
Performing individual and group training of union-represented supervisory personnel.
Bachelor’s Degree, JD degree or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a legal, industrial or labor relations and employee relations environment with the ability to conduct research when needed.
Knowledge and experience with the complaint process and employment law.
Knowledge of industry union contracts or experience in a union environment is beneficial.
Previous studio experience and legal training strongly preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with people across all levels, in-person and on the telephone.
Ability to be discreet and to keep information strictly confidential.
Ability to work with challenging personalities.
