Against that backdrop, Company is seeking an accomplished marketing professional to join our organization in the role of Director, Employer Group Marketing Strategy. Company’s Employer Group business is responsible for driving awareness of and membership in our Employer Group products, which serve employees who receive health benefits from their employer across direct, small group broker, and large group/consultant sales channels.
The main focus of this role is to partner closely with Employer Group business leaders to drive high-priority marketing initiatives, including the development of marketing strategy and execution of complex, highly-integrated campaigns to support employers, broker, consultant and consumer audiences. This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects from concept to completion, drive strategy and execution across multiple audiences and influencers, and collaborate with leaders and across Company corporate marketing, Employer Group, clinical, communications and market teams. The Director will serve as a critical marketing thought leader, providing trusted counsel to sales and other business leaders on marketing direction, acquisition strategies, reputation management and initiative execution.
The Director, Employer Group Marketing Strategy will manage three associates and will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Employer Group Marketing. This position can be based out of Chicago, Illinois, Louisville, KY, Green Bay, WI or virtual.
Partner with Employer Group business leaders to learn the business, revenue and profit drivers, key customer segments, and business strategies for growth and retention
Develop annual marketing strategy and plan and initiative strategies to meet Employer Group acquisition and growth business objectives and ensure business alignment and buy-in
Work directly with Employer Group business development and other cross-functional leaders to provide executive decision support in a flexible, timely manner, drawing from existing frameworks and new insights
Partner with market research and data teams to identify new stakeholder insights and apply insights into marketing strategies and tactics
Build, deliver, and oversee acquisition strategy and lead gen campaign measurement approaches to ensure campaign effectiveness
Execute new and existing brand strategy efforts and ensure that all marketing is “on brand”; partner with Employer Group sales and operations leaders to ensure the brand comes to life across the entire customer experience
Support sales and market teams with conceptualization, development and activation of key sales support tools and modules
Collaborate effectively with the CRM team and other units within the Marketing organization to analyze product strategy, product portfolio, and segment strategies to identify new needs and proactively provide solutions
Develop and oversee product positioning, value proposition, and messaging strategies
Create executive reporting and business partner relationship deliverables
Oversee the work of internal and external agencies and manage relationship with those agencies
Key Candidate Qualifications
In general terms, the ideal candidate will have deep marketing leadership experience in both B to B and consumer marketing, preferably in a Fortune 500 company. He/she will be a “big picture” thinker with a high level of business acumen and at least a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related communications field, along with the ability to successfully implement marketing strategy to achieve business results in a rapidly growing, highly entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will be an action-oriented, self-starter with strong organizational skills, who is thorough and demonstrates a lot of initiative and follow-through. This team player must be flexible, enthusiastic and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
In addition, the following qualifications and attributes are sought:
Record of success designing and leading large-scale marketing strategies and campaigns to consumers and B to B audiences, as well as two-phase sales (B to B phase I, consumer Phase II)
Experience in supporting complex, dynamic sales strategies – including experience and understanding of employer group products, sales cycles, RFP processes, reputation management/building, etc.
Digital first mindset and experience with SEM, SEO, social for brand and acquisition, retargeting, web, display, etc.; including experience with developing and executing lead nurturing strategies
Expertise in multi-touch attribution models, measuring marketing campaigns, and developing insights from analysis; managing analytics teams/vendors with measurement programs
Experience with activating reputation management strategies across brokers and consultants in the health care field
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability of managing and prioritizing diverse sets of projects
Experience with both building brand and performance marketing
Exceptional oral and written communications skills, with the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with all organizational levels, including senior and executive level audiences, and externally at conferences, trade shows, and other forums.
Excellent collaboration and influencing skills with Employer Group business leadership, Marketing leadership, peers, and associates – both matrix and direct
Proven track record in team development and preparing direct reports for upward mobility
MBA strongly desired
