What part will you play and what will you be doing?
The Director, Content Development serves as a strategic leader for CNN Digital working across the organization's leadership to define, organize, and communicate it's priorities to diverse executive stakeholders on both network and commercial teams related to sponsorship opportunities. The role oversees the development and management of domestic sponsorship opportunities, ensuring strong creative that aligns with editorial priorities and audience goals. Key partners across the organization include: Editorial, Video, Programming, Product, Technology, Business Operations, Digital Sales, Ad Product, Content Partnerships, PR/Comms, and Network Partnerships. The role is both strategic and tactical, and responsible for creating connection points between long-term objectives and day-to-day, week-to-week activities. Candidates must have a proven track record of being proactive problem solvers who can galvanize diverse stakeholders around common goals
The Day to Day:
Serves as CNN Digital's primary point of contact for our domestic sales teams
Communicates organizational priorities, commercial opportunities and key initiatives with regular cadence from CNN Digital to commercial stakeholders through various deliverables and in meetings
Assists the commercial organization in a client-facing capacity as needed- 30 %
Partner and participate with different business and editorial teams to connect and align opportunities with digital priorities; collaborates with Digital Business Operations to champion opportunities and company initiatives
Work in partnership to align, communicate and prioritize CNN's set of diverse and complex goals; plays active role on cross-disciplinary teams serving CNN Business and CNN Politics and in the Weekly Operations meetings in service of CNN Digital's objectives and key results (OKRs) -25%
Works across teams to identify data-driven opportunities (small, medium, and large) that serve audiences while fueling growth, optimizing efforts, and uncovering commercial opportunities
Works with editorial and video leaders to shape initiatives and coverage plans into packages with sponsorship potential. - 20 %
Communicates data-driven insights about CNN Digital's users and sponsorship performance to commercial partners with regular cadence in the spirit of constantly refining our offerings in the marketplace. - 10%
Partners with CNN Digital International teams to help leverage global opportunities, where appropriate. - 10%
Plays key part of the overall performance of direct reports including talent acquisition, performance management and career development - 5%
What do we need from you?
8+ years of experience in media and strategy
Experience working with digital teams (inclusive of editorial and product functions) and sales organizations
Experience managing a team directly or indirectly
Understanding of digital content development and distribution
Proven track record working across teams to design content strategy for a wide range of digital platforms
Demonstrated ability to collaborate, lead and influence with various stakeholder across a large and matrixed organization
Strong communication and project management skills
Capable of imagining and collaborating on multiple campaigns and projects in parallel, on time and on budget
Strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail. Ability to connect day-to-day efforts to the long-term strategy
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities Educational Requirements
Bachelor Degree in communication, journalism, TV production, or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, we would consider experience and on the job accomplishment.
