DESCRIPTION
The Builder Tools team at Company is responsible for both internal and external (AWS) developer tools. We enable our customers to manage their end-to-end software release process (CI/CD), including going from source code check-in, to building those changes, to testing those changes, to deploying those changes, and tracking issues through our ticketing and issue management systems. We own several dozen of the mission-critical internal systems that make Company run. We also own the external AWS developer experience. We are empowering AWS customers to build and operate software… just like Company does. CodeDeploy, CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipelines, and Cloud9 are the beginning of a suite of tools that will put the power of Company’s homegrown tools in the hands of our customers. With thousands of internal and external developers as our customers, we run some of the biggest and most powerful developer tools on the planet.
The Builder Tools org is looking for an executive-level engineering leader to own a significant portion of this product portfolio, focused specifically on the developer and team productivity parts of the suite. This includes source code management, IDEs, dev environments, team collaboration, issue management. You will own the dev/test experience for Company and our AWS customers. Successful candidates would be passionate about developer tools and have years of experience leading large orgs in a related space. To be successful in this role, you’ll need a good balance of deep technical skills and strong product sense. You’ll need experience building and leading large software teams. You’ll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the team with senior executives. And, you’ll need strong customer relationship skills, including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying customers’ feature requests.
This position represents a rare opportunity to lead and grow a large org inside of AWS that focuses on building web-scale developer tools for both internal and external customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
• 10+ years people management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge and experience in the developer tools and/or operational tools space. This could include source code management systems (SCM), build tools, testing tools, deployment tools, continuous delivery (CI/CD), ticketing and issue management tools, configuration management, change management tools, team productivity tools (project / collaboration), integrated development environments (IDEs), or software development kits (SDKs).
