Overview and Responsibilities
The Director of Application Operations will be responsible for managing and leading application operations throughout, but not limited to, the media content supply chain. They are responsible for the service quality and resiliency of these products. In addition, they are instrumental in the evolution of these products to meet ever-changing business demands. The content supply chain supports many brands across Company, including Company Media Networks, Company International Media Networks and Paramount Pictures.
This person will help develop, drive, and monitor the application operations life cycle within the content platform – following industry standard Agile methodologies, such as scrum. This person will work closely with product managers and business analysts to ensure business needs are met in the form of technology products.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Lead a team of application operators accountable for level-2 support across the content platform products
• Collaborate and liaise with level-1 and level-3 support and application engineering teams
• Provide and present application metrics back to the content platform, e.g. defect rates, support levels, stability, up-time etc.
• Work to the product owners to influence the product backlogs/roadmaps within the content platform.
Basic Qualifications:
• 8-10 years of application operations and/or development, leading a team of technical resources for 5+ years.
• Working knowledge and understanding of media asset management, digital encoding, file based transcoding, close captioning decoding and other broadcast grade equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of content management systems and distribution workflows.
Additional Qualifications:
• Media Industry experience with a thorough understanding of the content supply chain for all distribution platforms (linear television, VOD, SVOD, DTO, sites, apps etc.)
• Project management skills and particularly project lead experience.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
