The Director Allocation supports the placement of inventory across the supply chain network to drive omnichannel sales, improve margin, and enhance customer experience. This position is responsible for developing the by store and channel allocation strategies to support corporate financial objectives. The Director Allocation will develop a strategic, data-driven vision for inventory placement and flow of inventory in partnership with leaders in the merchandising, planning, and supply chain functions within a specific area of business. The role requires the Director Allocation to develop trusted relationships with key business partners and inspire the allocation team to develop successful inventory strategies and lead change within the organization.
The ideal Director Allocation candidate will have a functional understanding of retail planning, allocation, and fulfillment processes and will become a trusted leader and collaborator with the merchant, planning, and supply chain organizations, focused on a specific area of business. The Director Allocation must be comfortable leading through complexity and inspiring change as Macy’s develops innovative inventory and supply chain strategies to meet the rapidly evolving needs of customers. The Director Allocation must be data-driven and focused on results to drive measurable business impact while being a thoughtful collaborator, capable of leading through influence.
Lead inventory placement and flow strategies within the network of stores and .com fulfillment centers to support compelling customer experiences, drive omnichannel sales, and improve margin within a specific area of business.
Provide leadership for area of business focused allocation team, ensuring consistent, efficient operations.
Act as a primary point of contact and relationship manager for senior leaders in the merchandising, planning, and supply chain functions.
Build trusted relationships with business partners based on delivering value and anticipating needs.
Provide ongoing coaching and support team development in a collaborative, continuous-learning environment.
Bachelor's degree required.
Ideally, 5-plus years of experience in planning, allocation, and fulfillment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate complex inventory strategies in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong financial acumen and analytics skills.
Strong passion for answering complex business questions using structured problem solving and rigorous data analysis
Demonstrated ability to lead a team or project to deliver measurable business impact.
