GTI Sustained Engineering (SE) focus on the end-to-end engineering and operations of our critical systems and products as well as production management activities, including incident, problem, change and crisis management processes, and asset lifecycle management. Sustained Engineering provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services, while its production assurance and support functions leverage and execute industry leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.
The Digital Reliability Operations (DRO) Database Administrator is responsible for the operation of the infrastructure for the Digital Channel across the development, UAT, performance, disaster recovery, and production environments (24 x7). In this exciting and high energy position, you will have a mission-critical role in managing the infrastructure that powers Company website through mobile, consumer, and business channels. The Database Administrator will work closely with Digital Application Development and Application Support teams in all regions to ensure high standards of support are maintained and reliability goals achieved. The DRO Database Administrators are expected to drive standards and improvement through automation focusing on efficiency, reduction of risk, and ensuring high availability and sustained resiliency through configuration management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acting as the primary contact point for Digital infrastructure service and support activities (The function provides 24 x7 coverage).
Attending on technical bridges with technology teams to drive triage and resolution of incidents.
Resolving high priority incident tickets, with potential customer impacts.
Overseeing the root cause analysis for stability and reliability issues and timely resolution or escalation.
Installing IBM DB2 software.
Setting up a HADR environment.
Creating and maintaining standard installation and setup procedures for database servers.
Maintaining and facilitating standard backup procedures, retention plans, and restore testing.
Assisting with data migration between systems including regular data refreshes and making production data anonymous for use in testing environments.
Planning and performing scheduled hygiene and maintenance of the infrastructure.
Delivering service improvements across the Digital infrastructure through automation and analytics.
Ensuring environmental testing and High Availability/Sustained Resiliency tests are completed successfully.
Working pro-actively to gauge the performance of the application & database and provide recommendations to achieve the optimal architecture
Assessing impact on performance with different changes and review scalability of the infrastructure.
Maintaining standard procedural documentation related to all aspects of operating the database platforms.
Participating in incident resolution as an escalation point for database incidents.
Documenting known errors or workarounds in the shared Knowledge Base.
Consulting with vendors & other teams to recommend best practices and tune software during the development cycle.
Recommending and maintaining standards for monitoring and event management to be used in production databases.
Assisting in tuning SQL in stored procedures.
Performing testing and production builds involving data changes and stored procedure building while following established change management procedures
Assuming all DBA duties in testing and development environments and maintaining design and data consistency
Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
Proven 5+ years of DB2 Database Administration experience out of which minimum 3+ should be on DB2 9.x versions.
Must know AIX versions 6.x and 7.x and specifics of DB2 operations on AIX
History of managing multiple RDBMS in large environments in AIX environments. Any experience in Solaris environments will be a plus.
Experience with redundancy and resiliency applied to create a high availability service(HADR).
Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database.
Experience in working in a 24X7 environments and on-call support (preferably in financial services).
Experience on Q-replication is desirable, but not required.
Documents small-to medium-scale projects and delivers presentations with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal skills.
