POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Integration Team is part of a broader professional services team within the K-12 division of Blackboard. The Data Integration Manager manages a team of consultants who implement customer integrations from their outside database sources. The position requires independent decision-making and technical skills to create and enhance integration services. The Manager will be responsible for delivering successful integration services and managing resources, milestones, and key service deliverables.
The Data Integration Manager will play an integral role in the success of the group. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for:
• Managing the day-to-day activities of the consultants, including the assignment and oversight of work
• Working with Student Information Systems (SIS) providers and establish vendor relationships in coordination with our partnership team to promote integration solutions for mutual client benefit
• Delivering successful implementation of the ETL process for our customer base as well as Single Sign On (SSO)
• Working alongside the Project Management team to drive team milestones and key deliverables as well as manage resources for service delivery
• Owning and managing software releases of our integration tools, DataLink & DataLink Master
• Assisting with troubleshooting SQL queries & Python code used to extract required data from customer databases in the appropriate format
• Working with multiple Product Management and Development teams to improve product functionality as it relates to customer data integration
• Finding creative solutions to automate data exports from dozens of different K12 Student Information Systems (SIS)
• Improving upon processes and procedures to drive efficiency within the broader implementation
• Documenting established data integration solutions, and promoting knowledge of Student Information Systems in all departments of the business
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in individual, team, business unit and organizational performance
• Conducting team performance evaluations and reviews and perform a variety of management duties, such as hiring, counseling, supporting, training and termination
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field and/or equivalent certifications, and a minimum of five years of work-related experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English are required, other languages a plus
• Ability to write complex SQL statements using T-SQL, PL/SQL, and Jet SQL
• Ability to work with various protocols such as: HTTPS, FTP(S), SCP, Rest API
• Familiarity with SQL Server, MS Access, and Linux and scripting languages, i.e. Python
• Ability to analyze data structure of student information systems and various databases
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies including database applications and platforms, and programming languages with minimal assistance
• Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and creative decision-making with regard to significant matters
• Ability to articulate complex technical issues and system mastery to a wide range of audiences at all levels of an organization
• Comfortable and proficient in managing conflict and working with diverse populations
• Must be able to work directly with customers and partners to gather clear development requirements, resolve technical issues, and expand company knowledge
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
• Two years Managerial experience of a technical team
• Change and efficiency advocate
• Previous experience in a K-12 or higher education setting
• Ability to act as advocate for clients to drive feature enhancements, efficient processes, and general product/service improvement
• Ability to support Marketing, Sales, RFP, and other efforts towards successful client acquisition and retention
• Previous data management and/or programming experience
• Familiarity with Salesforce and other ASPs
