Company’s Direct-To-Consumer and International (DTCI) group has the skills, drive, and passion to innovate, create, and succeed in enabling a Direct to Consumer Strategy for ESPN, Company and ABC products. We are here to lead in the application of data and analytics across The Walt Company, focused on Content Personalization/Recommendation, Deep User Understanding, Audience Segmentation, and Analytics.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Audience Development and Content Development to identify areas of opportunity. You’ll work with the entirety of DTCI to build infrastructure and systems that support a scalable, self-serve analytical platform across the enterprise.
With the Data Platforms team, this intern will be expected to:
Learn from and work with other members of the team in developing data-lake, data-warehouse, and data-marts data models
Performing data collection, data cleansing and validation, and reporting/analysis tasks
Work with data analysts, engineers, and product managers to understand and deliver product requirements
Collaborate and learn from other software engineers and cross-functional teams within an agile team
Build and expand upon existing knowledge of languages, tools, devices, applications, and the environments
Supporting the analysis and validation of forecasting, predictive, and optimization models
Experience in Python, Scala, Java
Experience with Looker, Tableau
Strong SQL skills
Knowledge in REST APIs
Strong understanding of fundamental work on various defect fixes / enhancements to improve overall productivity
Ability to convert customer needs in to a completed solution, managing several projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills, partnering skills and attention to detail
Aptitude and willingness to learn new software and analytics applications
Some exposure to big data technologies, such as Kafka or Spark
Basic familiarity with any cloud environment (AWS ideal)
Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Level student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduating) pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field.
At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months OR currently participating in a Company College Program or Company Professional Internship
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Company internship or program.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Must provide full work availability
Must provide own transportation to/from work
Current Active Company cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Company World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)
The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2020 - August/September 2020. Interns must be available to work full-time for the duration of the internship.
