Responsible for ensuring quality assured financial reporting of the business activities within the Segment or Function. Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the design of the internal control framework specifically related to Segment/Function accounting and financial reporting requirements. Serves as liaison with Accounting Consultation team as subject matter expert, assisting in maintaining policies and requesting clarification of existing policies as required. Other responsibilities include management reporting, finance and accounting analytics and the mitigation of financial reporting risk through oversight of internal controls. This role supports our lessor businesses, which include the Equipment Finance Group as well as Structured Real Estate.
The Accounting Manager supports the Controller team and is responsible for supporting quality assured accounting and financial reporting of the business activities within the LOB/Function/Segment, regardless of legal entity. In this regard, the Accounting Manager is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the design of the internal control framework specifically related to the LOB/Function/Segment accounting and financial reporting requirements. The Accounting Manager serves as accounting subject matter expert and maintains supporting policies and procedures. The Accounting Manager’s responsibilities include management reporting, finance and accounting analytics, the mitigation of financial reporting risk through oversight of internal controls over financial reporting, accounting operations, external financial and regulatory reporting, and implementing and maintaining departmental processes and standards.
To ensure the structure of internal controls appropriately mitigates the risk of material misstatement of the financial statements, the Accounting Manager partners with the LOB/Function/Segment, Operational Risk Management and SOX Program Management to evaluate the effectiveness of the design of the internal control framework specifically related to accounting and financial reporting requirements within the LOB/Function/Segment.
The Accounting Manager exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; plays significant roles in larger, more complex initiatives. Impacts a range of client, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams. Explains and interprets complex, difficult, or sensitive information. Acts as a resource for teammates with less experience. Works independently and receives minimal guidance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 5 years of professional experience including 3 years of financial and/or accounting experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to develop knowledge based on experience and self-initiative, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliverables. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and methodologies. Understands foundational concepts of other related professional disciplines. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.
Preferred: CPA, MBA or related Master's degree, financial services industry experience. At least 5 years of experience. Previous experience in public accounting.
