The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is the risk subject matter expert responsible for the execution of the Front Line Unit/Control Function CRO Program. This individual will works across all applicable risk types to oversee and escalate activities that present elevated levels of risk and formulate a holistic and independent risk point of view across the lines of business they support (i.e. Digital Banking, Enterprise Payments and Consumer Client Services ). They take a strategic approach, taking into consideration front line unit strategic plans and broader enterprise initiatives and assess business strategic plans. The CRO will conduct real time industry research to identify and analyze emerging risks and trends across all risk types to provide a holistic and strategic risk point of view and influence 1st and 2nd line partners to pro-actively identify and address key risk themes and emerging risks facing the lines of business. This individual will oversee the risk management structure for these lines of businesses, chairing their respective risk committees and providing independent challenge, oversight and escalation of key issues and risks. Stakeholders include Line of Business Executives and leaders and regulators.
The CRO is responsible for understanding themes and trends across multiple risk types along with the impact of those themes and trends, individually and in aggregate, to the control function and to the enterprise. The CRO demonstrates intellectual curiosity, exercises sound judgment, creates an environment that encourages debate and engages and influences senior executives across a matrix organization. Individuals in these roles are able to clearly articulate a well informed point of view at all levels of the company, even if it is in contrast with others.

Enterprise Role Overview:
Job Profile SummaryResponsible for providing risk oversight and advice and counsel to the LOB. Establish risk management policies, limits, standards, controls, metrics and thresholds within the defined corporate standards. Ability to recognize all risk categories including credit, market, operational and compliance and bringing appropriate risk expertise as needed. Accountable for conducting execution of risk framework activities including, but not limited to, independent monitoring and testing of controls and risk management processes for the LOB. Establish and oversee the risk management governance structure for the LOB. May direct risk staff in establishing risk management procedures and standards, developing risk management analyses and reports, developing approval procedures and guidelines on risk limits by type of product and/or transaction, and in establishing management and administrative procedures to ensure adherence to policies.
