We are looking to hire a Central Processing Tech in Boise! This position will be located at our Treasure Valley Labs location off of Curtis Rd. The hours for this position are 5:00 pm to 1:30 am.
As a Central Processing Tech at Saint Alphonsus Health System, you will perform and coordinate the activities of the central processing area of the clinical laboratory. You will be accountable for quality and quantity of outpatient clinical laboratory specimens sent for in-house testing and to reference laboratories, as well as responsible for billing functions for reference laboratories. You will register patient specimens received from outside locations and work cooperatively with TVL laboratories for all specimens received for testing. As a Central Processing Tech you will serve as a resource for all clinical staff with regards to laboratory test questions and for clinical staff with regards to ordering laboratory tests in the EMR.
Our ideal candidate
will have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff, co-workers, and outside customers as well as a good working knowledge of medical terminology and computers. Prior experience working in a hospital setting or reference laboratory is preferred.
Accurately registers patients into the hospital information system.
Correctly and promptly, packages and ships specimens to outside locations for testing.
Monitors quality control of processing issues to ensure patient safety.
Troubleshoots lab order and specimen errors.
Utilizes multiple computer resources to research, comprehend and answer clinical questions in regards to lab testing protocols.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college education or associate degree preferred, with courses requiring lab work a plus.
