You Will Be Responsible For:
Assists department director and other management in compiling data, reports, preparing and organizing information.
Follows up on requests for clinicals by insurance companies including faxing clinicals, discharge plans, returning phone calls and/or communicating any requested information for the purpose of securing authorization.
Maintains a system for tracking insurance authorizations and following up when authorization is pending to assure that authorization is obtained without delay or denial
Greets department visitors, screens and forwards calls for manager and other staff.
Reviews and coordinates employees time and attendance records and ensures timely and accurate submission. Interacts with staff and payroll to resolve issues.
Maintains file system to include departmental policy and procedure manual.
Orders and maintains supplies for department within budget guidelines, interacts with department staff to meet needs of area.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Sorts mail, transcribes and types all correspondence.
Maintains and respects confidentiality of patient/physician/personnel information.
Tracts and maintains inventory items.
Generates/formalizes documents related to department projects.
Prepares check requests for department.
Coordinates data and activities for department such as business applications, interviews, transcripts and in services.
Maintains attendance and record of department meetings and huddles
Assures distribution to staff members of schedules, notifications, etc.
Performs audits as instructed by the Department Director
Follows up on requests identified through CCT, ANSB, and other established billing or documentation systems.
Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
Completes annual education requirements.
Maintains and manages payroll for the entire department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:
High school diploma
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Exceptional computer skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Computer skills in Word and Excel software programs and other computer applications. Experience using Meditech will be a plus.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to deal with pressure and complaints. Presents oneself in a professional manner through appearance and conduct.
Two or more years related experience, preferably in an acute hospital environment.
Knowledge of Medicare, Commercial, and Managed Care guidelines.
Provides office/clerical and administrative support to director, manager and supervisors on a day-to-day basis. Uses office skills to handle communications (internal and external), file organization, word processing, spreadsheets and computer graphics software, mathematical computation, report and letter preparation and decision making within the scope of responsibility.
