Drive, innovate and help lead the development of the Specialty/Gourmet Food department at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
We are seeking a passionate, energetic and positive thinking Specialty Food Merchant with a strong track record of success buying into a vision, building compelling assortments, and driving profitable sales with Specialty Foods categories.

Assortment selection, pricing and promotions, merchandising of products, and vendor negotiations, from strategy to execution, for your assigned categories, ensuring plans support the company’s overall strategic vision and direction.
Establish category direction and priorities, and communicate effectively with merchants, planners and field organization.
Develop business strategies outlining strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and risks.
Research emerging trends and build assortments best representing the BBB Brand Promise. Forecast and respond favorably to emerging consumer buying behaviors.

Partner with Planning on the forecasting and delivery of assortments to maximize the profitability and growth
Investigate and respond to field issues with urgency. Coordinate communications with Food Operations Team and the field.
Manage vendor relationships productively to maximize product availability, timely and accurate distribution, profitability and overall relationship sustainability.
Manage vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives
Perform market analysis, competitive shop and analyze sales trends.
Travel to store locations to review product mix, obtain feedback, and share information
Solicit and be open to feedback to constantly improve product assortments.
Travel domestically as needed.
Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and PC skills (especially Excel)
5-8 years’ experience as a Merchant for a premium branded Specialty Retailer, or Specialty Food Retailer
•Bachelor's degree preferred: additional degree in Fashion, Retail or a Food related major a plus
