This is a project role ending in January 2021. This temporary position will assist with domestic/international breaking news and event travel logistics under the direction of the News Travel Manager.
Responsibilities include providing various options/solutions to travel challenges.
In addition, the position will strategically align with Business Administration Management, Newsgathering, Travel, as well as regularly interact with key vendors and department heads within the news division.
The Day to Day
-Coordinate information flow between CNN departments, travel vendors and travel software (Concur/itineraries)
-Keep up with multiple daily changes and understanding constantly changing news environment drives need for flexibility, cancellations and extensions. Disseminating information back to individual travelers, management and budget holders.
-Hotel Sourcing-Work with News Travel manager and Turner's Corporate Travel Department to locate hotels near the venue/story for the long day that our teams work in the field.
-Ensure all contracts are reviewed by Corporate Travel Department and the Legal department and signed prior the event.
-Coordinate with editorial/event lead to manage the rooming lists working with the hotels and our Corporate Travel Department
-Ensure staff have accurate itineraries and reconcile invoices.
-Business Administration-Work alongside Business Administration management team and leverage CNN Business Administration for resource and expertise knowledge share.
-Acquire working awareness of their practices relevant to this specific role, such as Ariba for invoice approval, as well as to have the capability to contribute should there be any down period of travel activity or needs. Other projects identified by manager depending on year such as: Ground Transportation.
-Convention and large event transportation sourcing.
-Responsible to identify the best and most efficient local ground transportation for the group (bus, car service, Uber, car rental, hotel shuttle, etc).
-Must take into consideration factors such as security, roads blocks, protests, local customs or any other factors that may cause obstructions in getting our staff to/from the venue or hotel.
-This position requires someone who can strategically determine the best and in consultation with Turner and local security, the safest route to transport our staff 24/7.
-Four-year degree in business, travel, tourism, hospitality, finance, or equivalent experience
-Past experience in the travel industry (i.e. corporate travel agent), required.-Event planning experience, required Group travel experience, required International travel experience, required Proficient in MS Office Suite Proficient in Concur
-Overall business acumen is critical
-Must be able to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
-The ability to work well as part of a team or alone with minimum direction.-One who takes initiative.
-Must be able to function well under a constant changing and high pressure environment.
-Must be solution oriented.
-Must be able to multi-task.
