Responsibilities
NBC News Channel is seeking an experienced Broadcast Engineer to be responsible for all engineering and maintenance functions at NBC News Channel's Washington operation. This person would report directly to the Bureau Chief and work closely with operations and IT to maintain our facility.
•Respond to requests regarding tools and resources need for various jobs. Determine solutions through process improvements with existing technology or purchasing new equipment. Identify solutions where new equipment may result in savings to the company. Examine all solutions to ensure implementation – process improvement or new equipment – is cost efficient.
•Occasional travel to perform engineering duties for News Channel on major remotes and may include the initial budgeting, design and construction of those facilities.
•Will work primarily a dayside shift with some out-of-town travel, weekend, and overnight work, and the ability to be on call to respond to equipment failures 24 hours of the day.
Qualifications/Requirements
•5+ years of major market or network engineering experience required.
•Strong working knowledge of computers, computer networking, routers, live remote planning, digital satellite transmissions, up-link and down-link hardware and software, fiber transmission systems, RTS/ ADAM communication systems and a working knowledge of CAD.
Ability to perform unit functions on a regular basis
• In depth working knowledge of control room, non-linear editing, IT, ENG, studio and remote technologies and systems.
• Understands site operations and maintenance techniques.
