Retirement & Income Solutions, in MetLifes U.S. Business division, delivers retirement and benefit funding solutions in specialized markets. Retirement & Income Solutions is a leading provider of stable value products, structured settlements, annuities for employer plans, and life insurance funding products. The Retirement & Income Solutions Contracts organization works closely with legal, product, and sales teams, as well as Government Relations to develop and file contracts for existing product sales as well as the contracts required for new product introductions. The team is also engaged in a number of efforts to collaborate with the enterprise Digital and Innovation offices to identify opportunities to improve the way we work.
**The Role** :
You will be responsible for leading the team responsible for developing and filing with state insurance regulators all contractual documents for RISs products, which include defined benefit pension de-risking; annuity and investment products for defined contribution plans; corporate- and bank-owned life insurance; funding for post-retirement benefits; and structured settlements. As part of the broader RIS Customer Solutions and Strategic Operations leadership team, you will also be responsible for collaborating across the business to identify ways to better serve our customers (internal and external) and executing on key strategic initiatives for the team.
The principle responsibilities of this position include:
+ Manage a team that develops the contractual forms (contracts and certificates) and Separate Account Memos of Operation for all products in RIS, for existing and new products, for all our legal entities.
+ Establish annual team goals and priorities, monitor performance and ensure progress.
+ Build a sustainable talent model with opportunities for career development for the entire team including within the Contracts team, more broadly within RIS and within MetLife as a whole.
+ Develop talent to ensure a leadership pipeline on the team.
+ Oversee team to ensure contractual development and filings are accurate and timely for each of the lines of business within RIS.
+ Approve regulatory filings with state insurance regulators and work with Government Relations to create strategies to manage the filings.
+ Partner with business heads within RIS to ensure effective prioritization and coordination between teams
+ Develop, implement and maintain best in class governance and business hygiene practices.
+ Drive collaboration across team and with other similar teams throughout the enterprise to ensure leveraging of best practices / learnings.
+ Monitor team workflow and produce metrics to report out to leadership on status of work.
+ Drive team focus on providing strategic partnership / advice to business partners within RIS to ensure high quality contract development / filings.
+ Drive continuous improvement to improve efficiency / effectiveness / connectedness of team.
+ Proactively identify potential issues / risks and develop mitigation strategies. Identify and implement process improvement.
+ Instill risk mindset throughout team.
+ Consider and communicate proactively regarding downstream impacts of product features / design on Administration, Technology, Operations, Call Center, Finance and other key partners to ensure effective execution.
+ Drive key strategic projects for the team, including work in developing and executing on steps towards future vision of contracts, in collaboration with the Digital and Innovation enterprise offices and third parties.
+ Collaborate with internal business partners including legal, sales, finance, actuarial, marketing, and product as necessary to accomplish objectives.
