The Associate Project Manager will play a critical role in helping to manage processes around the overall selection, initiation, execution, and closure of projects, ranging from business systems implementations to mobility and collaboration solutions to help improve the way HMH employees work together.
As an Associate Project Manager, the successful candidate must have some experience in project planning, scheduling and budget control with a strong experience working on highly integrated software projects.
This is a role requiring strong communication, collaboration and organization skills, where the Associate Project Manager will be required to interface and engage with stakeholders from many business units.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and improve data driven processes around intake, analysis, and decision making on business requests for technology work
• Assist project and program managers in budget management and other activities to ensure compliance with assigned budgets, scope, and timeframes.
• Manage governance activities of projects and programs, including managing meeting schedules, agendas, and facilitation of steering committees and program reviews.
• Foster continuous improvement within the planning and delivery of projects and programs, including capture of lessons learned, documentation, and other artifacts and knowledge in order to facilitate enhancements to processes and templates. Includes training and knowledge transfer of best practices
• Developing and maintaining a library of templates and documentation in accordance with project management methodology, including education and training content.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a project management role, preferably in a fast paced service delivery environment.
• Project Management Tools proficiency
• Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
• Hands-on experience in producing detailed project schedules, extrapolating work break down structure, and resource requirements and tracking to schedule.
• Ability to plan, manage and improve a process
• Exceptional communication skills with fluency in both verbal and written English.
• Experience working with Technical Product Management Teams, experience and exposure to the following technologies, .Net, Java App, J2EE, SQL, Client server based environments
• Ability to work with and support 3rd party vendors
• Analytical Skills with ability to truly understand the full scope and impact of the project requirements
• Customer service orientation with ability to manage relationships with internal customers
• Ability to drive consensus among various internal stakeholders, including executive management and third parties
• Risk and issue management to all levels in the organization.
• Extensive experience in project reporting including executive level briefing
• High degree of business acumen
• Project management certification a plus
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
• The person in this position needs to move about inside office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
