Position Objective
Responsible for influencing the achievement of sales, gross margin, and profit goals of the international business through the selection, localization, pricing, and promotion of merchandise. Analyze business trends and assign quantities to the brand collection based on a set of attributes appropriate to the country-specific business needs.
Functional Responsibilities
• Local Market Knowledge and Analysis
◦ Perform research analysis of the market, identify market-specific trends and identify opportunities that can be applied to the core customer
◦ Profile and comprehend core customer to ensure customer satisfaction
◦ In partnership with Brand Marketing, coordinate events/promotions based on local market practice
• Merchandising and Product Selection
◦ Works within the International Merchandising team and Brand to support the international business for merchandise localization to achieve sales, inventory and margin goals
◦ Participates in the effective management of the localization of merchandise from the frontline and DCOM product lines in a timely manner, accounting for product sensitivities and local tastes
◦ Partner with Global Sourcing to ensure country product requirements are met
◦ Understands which products have been identified to be advertised in mailers by the domestic brand merchants; understands big ideas and key themes.
◦ Partner with marketing & visual merchandising to ensure merchandise is correctly displayed by tailoring to the local market as necessary
◦ Attend core-set to understand the fixture/shop concept
• Planning
◦ Partner with Planning to ensure appropriate product distribution to maximize sales and margin goals for international business
◦ Understand the development of merchandise plans by store and the overall impact to international P&L
◦ Participates in the management of OTB (open to buy) established by Planning & Store Planning by influencing quantities to order by style, color, and size for international locations
◦ Validate space with assortment plan to ensure appropriate depth is achieved by store volume and size
• Pricing & Product Lifecycle Management
◦ Assists in the preparation of detailed market and competitive pricing analyses
◦ Assists in identifying business opportunities and risks in-season through analyzing sales performance and gathering marketplace performance
• Communication
◦ Ensure ongoing communication and coordination with Brand frontline Merchants regarding product assortment (revisions, big ideas)
◦ Create strong partnerships among cross-functional areas including Domestic Design, Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Marketing, Visual Merchandising and Digital Commerce to drive business decisions for international
Education
• 4-Year College Degree (Business, Finance, Merchandising)
Required Qualifications
• 2-3 years related work experience in Brand Development, Merchandising, or Planning
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Effectively manages ambiguity and solves problems with little direction
• Organizational skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time
• Understands competitors, target customers, and brand-specific fashion trends
• Strong computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, Power Point, Excel)
• Ability to travel internationally for market and store trips as needed
