Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Associate Director for Faculty and Staff Development in the School of Nursing within the College of Health and Human Services at the Company is part of a collaborative School Leadership Team. The Associate Director for Faculty and Staff Development provides school-level leadership, management, and oversight of professional development and mentorship activities for faculty and staff that lead faculty to reach appropriate reappointment, promotion and tenure milestones and ensure the retention of professional staff. The Associate Director orients new faculty members and part time instructors to the goals, policies, and procedures of the School and College. Reporting to Director of the School of Nursing and Company Distinguished Professor, the Associate Director serves as the primary liaison to the College Research and Innovation and Community Engagement efforts. This administrator is a key resource for faculty in the development of scholarship and service goals, a champion of collaborating across various resources to ensure appropriate innovation in teaching, research and service efforts, and serves as a professional mentor for faculty and staff across the School. As a member of the collaborative leadership team in the School, the Associate Director contributes information to the School Director related to faculty and staff needs in order to be successful in their professional journeys.
Minimum Requirements
This position requires a Ph.D. in nursing with a baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing, a current RN License in NC, or eligibility for licensure in NC is expected as part of the hiring process.
The successful applicant must qualify for appointment with tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Applicants must have: a doctorate in nursing or related field; graduate teaching experience; and expertise in grant writing and research. Nurse faculty members must have (or be eligible for) a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina; effective interpersonal and communication skills; an established program of research and scholarship, and an exemplary record of professional service.

Applicants for this position should demonstrate a potential for success in an administrative role within a large academic unit with a minimum of 2 years of successful administrative experience in an academic unit; Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, successful history of strong interpersonal skills and professional relationship building, and specific experience with the administration of academic degree programs, faculty and staff development within an academic unit, and/or general administration of an academic unit. The successful candidate will be expected to relocate and maintain a campus presence as part of the School of Nursing faculty. For faculty rank, candidates must demonstrate a background of high-quality teaching and research program.
Preferred formal education, professional skills and work experience:
Preferred qualifications include experience with the development and management of new programs/initiatives; experience with interprofessional teaching/research; experience championing new initiatives with faculty and staff; experience working across and collaborating with an administrative leadership team; and, demonstrated commitment to faculty shared governance.
