The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for supporting assigned aspects of his/her associated product line, with a dual focus on improving student performance and meeting company financial targets. This may include new product development or revisions, customer research, developing product growth strategies, and sales support and education initiatives.
The Assistant Product Manager will develop a deep understanding and appreciation of how unique program philosophies can serve the needs of educators and students and will become aware of key market trends in K-12 Humanities education. Primary responsibilities include product line planning such as bundling and pricing; guiding editorial and technology development teams to build superior products; advocating customer/sales needs in the product development process; guiding market research activities; and taking a portfolio view of life cycle management.
The ideal candidate for this role should be analytical, collaborative, able to work well cross-functionally, and be passionate about improving student learning.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BS/BA in related discipline
Must have in one of the following fields: teaching, writing, social media or publishing.
Proficient use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills (virtual and face-to-face)
Experience in product management, Literacy education, or technology preferred
Knowledge of the Core Literacy Market
Project management expertise
Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
