The Marketing and Special Events Assistant Manager will assist in the coordination of Bloomingdale’s integrated marketing campaigns and external partnerships to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and market share on a localized level. This individual will be charged with understanding the customer base to prioritize resources in order to maximize opportunities. S/He will play a critical role in representing the Bloomingdale’s brand in a positive, professional way that enhances our company’s reputation and promotes our business objectives. Perform other duties as assigned.
Activates the Central Integrated Marketing/Special Events Strategy (70%):
Plans and executes all aspects of in-store event planning that supports the direction of the Central strategy, with support from the Manager.
Tracks results and provides feedback to central partners.
Enhances Central strategy by securing sponsorships, co-branding opportunities and/or community initiatives that build productive local relationships with the intent to build customer base and commerce.
Collaborates with the Central Media team to develop local media plans, securing publicity and partnering with brand-appropriate social media influencers and bloggers.
Cultivates “Top of the List” (TOL) clients and partners with the Store Leadership team in creating experiences to build loyalty and share. Actively monitors frequency of visits and spend.
Manages the special events budget and performs administrative duties as necessary.
Activates Market/Trade Area or Store-Specific Strategy (25%):
Pursues localized opportunities in alignment with General Manager(s) to cultivate customers and build sales. This can include, but is not limited to Tourism, Conventions, Corporate or Studio Services. Provides oversight of programs and may include direct supervision of executives or staff dedicated to these functions.
Supports local accelerated growth or “focus” businesses with event intensification that builds store animation and experience.
Represents the organization at outside special events that support central or local priorities and partnerships. Guides General Manager(s) as to productive involvement in outside organizations and events.
Leverage corporate employee-giving programs to maximize community impact and fundraising. Advocate for central support of local initiatives.
Other Responsibilities (5%):
Point person for external communication locally, and may be called upon to be spokesperson at the direction of the Central Communications team.
Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
4 year college degree.
1-3 years of experience, preferably within Retail or Fashion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents.
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and analytical skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to manage projects and prioritize next steps with diverse peer and senior teams.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting, hearing, and talking.
May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Involves ability to use computer, mouse, keyboard which may involve manual dexterity.
May be a need to move or lift items under 10 pounds.
Ability to balance competing priorities.
Strong follow–up skills and sense of urgency.
Proven ability to build strategic alliances/relationships.
Must be highly organized, detailed and thorough, creative and motivated with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Must be a strong team player, express self-initiative and demonstrate problem solving skills. Proven ability to build strategic alliances/relationships.
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
