Job Summary:
As a member of the Direct to Consumer Analysis (DTC) team, you are responsible for preparing DTC volumes forecasts for books, premiums and marketing materials. In addition you will balance shipping run volumes, order DTC books to meet production deadlines and maintain sufficient inventory levels to ensure customer satisfaction while minimizing costs.
Key Accountabilities:
Print & Bind Forecasting & Book inventory management
• Update forecasts, monthly and ongoing, with actual shipments and revised forecasts for billed and introductory shipments.
• Prepare weekly print and bind forecasts by title, reviewing book usage using Access database and place accurate orders for book fulfillment.
• Revises book forecasts, as necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain appropriate book inventory levels for shipments. Ensure accuracy of forecast by checking for reasonableness using historical data, existing forecasts, title charts and marketing plans.
• Monitor inventory level of books and request reprint/revisions requests where necessary
• Address Retail requests for books aiming to assist them where possible
• Provide Finance with monthly inventory write downs and advise of any future use of books.
• Update book substitutions file for finance quarterly
• Review monthly destruction list for series titles and quarterly destruction list for single titles and advise of books to be saved from destruction.
• Find efficient ways to use excess inventory to minimize inventory write downs.
Run Verification
• Maintain daily invoice run balancing reports to ensure all orders are being invoiced and reconcile monthly volumes - ensure discrepancies are resolved.
• Reviews weekly billed/intro shipping runs in order to maintain appropriate book inventory levels to ensure customer satisfaction. Verifies shipment quantities by project, versus forecast to verify collation plan coding and expected volumes are being shipped. Determine timely solutions to resolve book shortages.
• Review Daily Hold Report and ensure timely resolution of books on hold
• Maintain book Shipping Set file in optimal order to facilitate the accuracy of book substitution process.
Competencies/Skills & Experience
Specific training or job experience required for this position includes:
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business/Marketing/Communications.
• 1-2 years’ experience in a Direct Marketing environment
• Proven computer skills: MS Excel/Visual Basics, MS Access, SAP BusinessObjects
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills
• Strong commitment to teamwork
• Excellent communication skills
