We are seeking an intern for the 2020-21 academic year (Aug. 2020 to May 2021) to serve as an Assistant Learning Specialist. The Assistant Learning Specialist will be supervised by the Learning Specialist and will be primarily responsible for assisting at-risk student-athletes in developing academic skills such as study strategies, time management, reading and writing skills, test-taking strategies, and coping mechanisms. He/She will also perform additional duties related to the role, including, but not limited to: - Conducting assessments and evaluations to determine student-athletes? academic needs - Developing and fulfilling academic support plans for at-risk student-athletes - Creating study hall schedules for individual student-athletes - Reviewing and monitoring academic progress for assigned student-athletes. - Communicating with Academic Advisors to discuss student-athletes? progress and development - Compiling weekly academic reports to send to academic staff and coaches - Assisting with supervision of afternoon and evening study halls - Assisting with group academic support, such as midterm and finals study workshops - Work with supervisor and other staff on various day-to-day charges and standing projects with our campus partners and academic community
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor?s degree in education, sports administration, counseling, or related field - Desire to pursue a career in academic support for student-athletes - Experience working with students in an educational environment - Strong organizational and communication skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment
