Assistant Director of Compliance for Liberty University should be able to work independently and exercise good judgment and discretion. Collaborate with compliance staff members to serve the needs, questions and concerns of student-athlete and prospective student-athletes within the Liberty University community in NCAA, conference and athletic department rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include:
1. Primary compliance office liaison for student-athlete services a. Registrar’s office, academic affairs for athletics, financial aid, student accounts, admissions, etc.
2. Educate and communicate with coaches and staff regarding incoming, current and continuing student-athletes on NCAA eligibility requirements located in Bylaws 12 & 14, including, but not limited to, Amateurism, Athletics Eligibility, Full-Time Enrollment, Freshman Academic Requirements, Progress Toward Degree Requirements, Transfer Regulations and Graduate/Post baccalaureate Participation; a. Initial Eligibility i. Communicate with coaches and staff regarding Prospective Student-Athletes, their parents and school administrators ii. Liaise with NCAA Eligibility Center b. Continuing Eligibility i. Communicate with coaches and staff regarding Current and Continuing student-athletes ii. Liaise with Registrar’s Office & Academic Affairs for Athletics c. Transfer Eligibility i. Communicate with coaches and staff regarding incoming and outgoing transfer student-athletes ii. Liaise with Registrar’s Office transfer evaluators and Academic Affairs for Athletics d. Other Eligibility Areas i. Facilitate Student-Athlete Forms ii. Communicate practice and competition certifications to coaches and athletics staff
3. Facilitate communication with student-athletes, coaches, financial aid office, student accounts, academic affairs for athletics and NLI office pertaining to financial aid and all NCAA Bylaw 15 matters; a. Help to calculate, track and communicate individual and team equivalencies, and b. Liaise between athletics and the financial aid office.
4. Primary Liaison with Student-Athlete Advisory Committee;
5. Oversee and update Student Athlete Handbook;
6. Assist with student-athlete waivers (medical hardship, initial eligibility waivers, PTD, and 2-year college waivers); a. Engage with student-athletes and prospective student-athletes to research, document, draft and submit waivers for eligibility purposes
7. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD for Compliance.
Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred. 1-3 years’ experience in an NCAA compliance office, registrar’s office, financial aid office and/or student advising office. Eligibility and/or Financial Aid experience preferred.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work, maintain a positive attitude, and effectively communicate with a diverse population (e.g. student-athletes, coaches and staff, boosters, parents). Knowledge and experience with LSDBi, and AMA Online and experience with some version of recruiting software is preferred.
