Responsibilities
SUMMARY: : Responsible for the day-to-day operations of a segment of the merchandise development process assisting Buyers by providing input and direction as it relates to specific tasks by performing the following duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tracking Data- Assists Buyers in populating and maintaining the data in tracking systems necessary in the development and procurement of products; initiative sheets, buy plans, assortment sheets
Data analysis- Gathers and recommends information required for project and product development from internal and external business partners; contacting vendors for product information.
Formal Requests- Populates and tracks interdepartmental requests forms such as fixture requests, vendor setup
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
High school degree or GED required. Associates degree from a two-year college in Merchandising or a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1-3 Years: Preferred retail experience within a high-profile retail organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Budgeting
Project Management
Planning
Organization skills
Research
SCOPE: Open to Buy management, Per-cap goals, revenue goals, COG goals, vendor communication/management, build relationships with internal and external team, weekly business analysis, monthly business analysis.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Preferred thorough knowledge of Excel, Power point, an understanding of retail financials, vendor sourcing, and merchandise strategic planning.
Specialty retail background (i.e., apparel, giftware, imports, or character merchandise) is highly preferred.
RELATIONSHIPS OUTSIDE WORK UNIT:
Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact.
COMMUNICATION:
Communicates and resolves with vendor on behalf of the buyers any product concerns and facilitate RTV’s.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
