The Broad Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts) seek applicants for a tenure-track faculty position, effective July 1, 2020, or soon thereafter. The individual would serve as a Core Faculty Member at the Broad Institute and an Assistant or Associate Professor in an appropriate department in the Schools of Engineering or Science, or the College of Computing at MIT, including the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or Mathematics.
Broad and MIT feature an exceptionally collaborative environment at the interface of computer science and biomedicine, where fundamental challenges in computer science and biology are tackled to make discoveries that transform our understanding of biology and can ultimately deeply impact patients. MIT offers a vibrant community in computer science, mathematics and biology, including the new Schwartzmann College of Computing. The Broad also generates some of the largest and richest biological datasets worldwide, ripe for innovative applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
We are looking for dynamic, collaborative, and inventive faculty to join us in our quest to gain impactful insights from biomedical data. You might be an expert in the fundamental science behind Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, theory of learning, novel AI algorithms and architectures, or software engineering principles for AI systems. But above all, you must be excited about applying these to biological questions. You can enrich and enhance our community by bringing new areas of interest to the Broad and MIT, or synergizing with current MIT and Broad research areas such as genomics, computational biology, data science, medical genetics, cancer, single Company and spatial genomics, microbiology and infectious disease, psychiatric disease and neurobiology, chemical biology, Company and systems biology, stem Companies, epigenetics, or metabolism.
