Responsibilities
NBCU Strategic Insights & Research, Ad Sales Portfolio team provides critical, data-driven insights to help influence strategic ad sales partnerships and develop innovative ad sales monetization strategies. You will gain exposure to various aspects of the media ad sales business. You will get your hands on a suite of media data across multiple screens and platform (TV, desktop, mobile, OTT, etc.). You will be at the forefront of evaluating media consumption trends and premium partnerships including some of the most iconic media brands and some of the biggest tech brands.
As an integral part of an entrepreneurial team, you will craft and execute strategies that will help NBCU continue leading and innovating in the scattered media marketplace. You will leverage both NBCU’s first-party and syndicated research tools to effectively and creatively position the NBCU portfolio, identify and evaluate new revenue opportunities, and provide support for Senior executives, sales and Client Partnerships. To stand out at this role, it’s critical to possess strong analytical and data storytelling skills, to be curious about the media advertising business and to aspire to make an impact. You will report to the Director, Strategic Insights & Strategy.
• Work closely with the Director in response to day-to-day cross-platform sales research requests using syndicated research tools (Nielsen tool suites, comScore, MRI, etc.)
• Develop actionable insights stories used in new sales propositions and strategies for the NBCU portfolio, from the value of our premium content to our data and technology capabilities
• Work cross-functionally with different teams on new initiatives, relating to but not limited to audience monetization, commercial analysis, brand and spending analysis
• Profile and position NBCU viewers/users across platforms against competitors
• Develop a deep understanding of the changing consumer media behaviors using various media research tools (Nielsen, Adobe, Facebook, etc.) and map them with their consumer purchase behaviors
• Create marketplace overviews to keep sales and senior management informed of changing media landscape
• Provide support to on-going primary research studies
• Explore and evaluate new metrics to improve advertising measurement and eventually enhance the premium value of NBCU portfolio to advertisers and agencies
Qualifications/Requirements
• Four year degree (B.A., B.S.) from an accredited college or university, with some statistical knowledge
• 1+ years of experience in a business/corporate strategy role, preferably at a media publisher, agency or brand
• Candidates must have proven experience in analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative research with business needs in mind
• Proactive thinkers who can handle multiple projects at once
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving abilities are crucial
• Comfortable communicating both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with Excel and Powerpoint
Desired Characteristics
• Curious about why people do what they do, proactive in identifying opportunities and entrepreneurial in owning and executing projects
• Strong knowledge of media data and common media research systems (NPower, Lake 5, MRI, Simmons, Adobe Analytics, comScore, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.)
• Solid understanding of the current media landscape and trends
• Experience with advanced Excel functions like VBAs
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and Micro Strategy
• Prior experience with statistical or predictive analysis and modeling is a plus (SPSS, SAS, R, etc.)
