Responsibilities
Company Orlando, in particular Marketing & Sales, has become a data driven and future focused organization. In this context, this position will participate in the design, development and implementation of primary research projects and utilize secondary research for the purpose of better understanding both current and potential Company Orlando Guests, as well as business issues. Monitor trends, analyze data, formulate creative insights and disseminate actionable, meaningful insights to internal stakeholders. Must be able to effectively “tell the story” behind the data.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in the design, development and implementation of ad-hoc research projects for the purpose of better understanding both current and potential Company Orlando Guests, and business issues:
◦ Marketing and sales research including ad testing, product naming, brand awareness and health tracking
◦ Operational research on in park guest behaviors, preferences, and reactions to new and altered ride, merchandise, and dining experiences
◦ Research that supports Strategy and Business Development in market sizing and segmentation
◦ Other ancillary ad hoc projects to support Company Orlando Creative and Company Parks and Resorts research needs
• Monitor secondary sources for consumer trends, industry trends, brand/product/category developments, and competitor marketing and research activities and integrate findings into research activities. Leverage mix of internal and external resources to deliver timely, accurate, and effective research findings and insights.
• Develop reliable new methodologies and data collection tools for large scale projects without readily available precedents.
SCOPE: Management of standard policies and procedures; Operates independently as a project manager, however facilitates work through direct supervision.
Qualifications/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret spread sheets. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Experience with Experience with Univariate Methods required; Experience with multivariate methods not required but preferred; Experience with statistical package (like SPSS) required.
• REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form in English. Ability to define problems, assemble data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English. Ability to generate insights, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree is required from a 4-year college or university; Acceptable majors include Marketing, Research, Statistics, Business Analytics, Any of the Social Sciences, Economics, Math, Finance, or related field.
• Master's Degree not required, but preferred; highly relevant to this industry.
EXPERIENCE:
• 1-3 Years of experience in marketing research on either client or vendor side required, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Leadership experience not required at this level, however must be comfortable interacting with clients and peers.
