Job Introduction
We have an exciting Business Analyst opportunity within the Company Children�s department.
The Company Children�s department develops and supports third parties in the creation of innovative, engaging digital experiences for children. Through its two websites and a range of apps it provides a trusted environment which is enriching, enabling and relevant to the under 12s. Our products seek to entertain, inform and empower children, adding real value to their lives.
In this role the business analyst will work closely with the product, development, test, user experience and editorial team within an agile environmentto help us learn more about our audiences and work with them to build high quality, well built experiences that will delight them.
Role Responsibility
• Facilitate the gathering, definition and prioritisation of requirements with key stakeholders. This will include conversations about scope, about the detail of individual requirements and bigger picture approaches.
• Gather, analyse and report usage data and other relevant metrics to help assess the performance of the product portfolio and aid product decision-making using the BBCâ��s web statistics analysis system and other tools.
• Work with internal software and test teams and third parties to document requirements clearly and accurately in a way that those involved in building and testing can carry out their role.
• Ensure that the delivered solutions meet the requirements and agreed quality criteria.
• Investigate and evaluate competitor offerings and upcoming technology developments such as new operating systems and new consumer devices.
• Be able to communicate project issues to stakeholders so that there is an understanding of the problem and options for how it can be solved.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
• Business analysis experience including working in a new media software delivery environment.
• Understanding and experience of business analysis skills, techniques, and practices with an eye for detail.
• Requirements documenting for various audiences - both technical & non-technical.
• Experience of agile software development methodologies.
• Demonstrable experience of using relevant documenting & diagramming techniques such as UML, Domain Models, Process Flow, Use Cases, User Stories, User Journeys.
• Ability to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts explore and evaluate them systematically
• Experience of working in a deadline driven environment with rapid release cycles.
• Experience of facilitating prioritisation and decision-making sessions with stakeholders and the development team.
• Working collaboratively with stakeholders and other areas of the Company and stay open to ideas/suggestions from others.
• Understanding of relevant technologies, especially online application projects.
• Where appropriate make product decisions based on research, usage data, or predictions of either.
• Experience of using spreadsheet packages and/or presentation packages.
• Project management skills, showing the ability to prioritise and plan activities taking all factors such as deadlines and resource requirements into account.
Desirable
• Good understanding of software development and delivery methodologies such as TDD & BDD, to build high quality products.
• Understanding of the BBCâ��s policies on developing products and services for children
• Business analysis or other involvement in the development of games or apps
• Experience of working with analytics tools
• Experience of other software development methodologies e.g. waterfall
