Advertising Compliance Analyst
Company has an immediate opportunity for a Advertising Compliance Analyst.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Supports the Enterprise by completing research and analysis of legal and regulatory requirements, and applying those requirements to advertising materials submitted for compliance review. Reviews all insurance product advertising, sales illustrations, product descriptions, training material and other material used in the sale of insurance products. Ensures that any appropriate changes and/or modifications are made to submitted materials prior to approval of material for business unit or other distribution. Escalates issues to Compliance Advertising or other Compliance Management as appropriate. Provides support to associates, business units and the field on legal and regulatory requirements for advertising materials. Maintains accurate records related to advertising compliance review. Interacts with regulatory agencies or industry groups related to advertising compliance, as needed. Works on general compliance projects and strategic initiatives as assigned. Works with limited supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating issues to management when necessary and updating management on a regular basis.
Reviews all insurance product advertising, sales illustrations, product descriptions, prospectuses, training materials, websites, social media and other documents used to invite application or inquiry regarding the products, services or programs advertised. Using developed guidelines, makes recommendations for approval or changes to content or process. Evaluates compliance risk associated with each piece, and escalates to management when needed. Provides final approval for advertising, customer communications and other materials to ensure compliance with Enterprise standards, state insurance laws and product specifications.
Develops and maintains guidelines, manuals and processes for the review of advertising.
Researches insurance regulations and laws, and analyzes and interprets regulatory compliance requirements related to advertising. Updates procedures and processes in response to regulatory changes as appropriate.
Regularly interacts with customers, including Business Units, Law and Actuarial to identify concerns and issues, escalating as appropriate to management and stakeholders.
Completes documentation for advertising compliance recordkeeping system and keeps databases current.
Stays abreast of industry and compliance trends related to advertising and social media; recommends and implements changes to internal company processes as needed.
Establises and maintains a working knowledge of insurance products, legal and regulatory requirements and business forms and processes.
Responds to inquiries from associates and management concerning advertising, social media and public communications.
Participates in applicable projects to make significant structural changes to the advertising compliance review process.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Demonstrated knowledge of the life insurance industry comprising product types and basic regulatory information, including advertising regulations.
Demonstrated ability to receive, organize and manage large amounts of diverse information and documentation. Must cite examples of organizational skills.
Proven ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor when handling stressful situations including pressure associated with volume workloads, and meeting deadlines and target dates.
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated success interpreting and communicating business needs and solutions between internal groups and external vendors in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner. Demonstrated ability to document procedures and activities in a manner that is understandable to others and prepared using a prescribed format. Verbal and written communications are to conform to proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
Proven strong analytical and research skills, including demonstrated experience identifying, defining and resolving problems, and collecting or intepreting data to establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrated experience working effectively independently and within a team environment.
Proven consistently strong client relationship skills while working with mulitple clients.
Works in an office setting and remains continuously in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms and to prepare and analyze data in an accurate, neat and thorough manner.
Bachelor’s degree or comparable industry experience.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:
Proficient in the use of Mircosoft Office (Excel, Access and Word).
Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):
Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
