Summary of Responsibilities
With responsibilities shared between the departments of History and Philosophy, will provide administrative office support services for faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds in accordance with the policies and procedures of the University. Help maintain department website and social media, in support of faculty in charge. Work with department faculty, college recruitment and retention committees, admissions, etc., in support of faculty activities on recruitment and retention. Assist faculty in connecting at-risk students to appropriate resources.
Two or more years working in a general office / administrative position.

1. Strong oral and written communication skills.
2. Ability to manage time effectively, to prioritize tasks, and to multi-task while maintaining a positive attitude.
3. Ability to work across departments with people of diverse backgrounds.
4. Ability to proofread for grammar, spelling, and style.
5. Attention to details and excellent organization and record keeping skills.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and ability to become proficient with university software tools.
7. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
8. Familiarity with social media OR willingness to learn.
Completion of an associate degree OR 60 hours of college credit OR will meet one of these requirements by the date of hire.
Three or more years working in general office/administrative position.
Responsibilities / Duties
Assist department chairs in class schedule building.
Assist department chairs with monitoring department budgets; filing, scanning, and archiving relevant paperwork; completion of relevant college and university forms; other department tasks as needed.
Assist directors of Religion Program and Geography Program in their activities.
Serve as receptionist for both departments during hours department is open, including answering phone calls and assisting office walk-in traffic. Make photocopies (and pdfs) for faculty to use in their classes.
Support visiting departmental speakers, including reserving rooms, arranging travel accommodations, arranging speaking engagements, processing reimbursements, etc.
Purchase and receive items for the departments. Place book orders for classes and request desk copies from publishers.
Assist with faculty travel approval and reimbursements processes.
Work with department faculty, college recruitment and retention committees, admissions office, etc., on recruitment and retention.
Arrange campus tours, classroom visits, etc., and help plan recruitment events to support faculty when requested.
Assist faculty in connecting at-risk students to appropriate resources.
Assist faculty in charge of websites and social media to keep it correct, current, accessible, and an effective outreach tool and resource for students.
Assist faculty with grant administration.
Serve as department point-person on issues of accessibility during hours department is open (8am – 5pm M-F), i.e., be available to be contacted about and to call appropriate Company personnel to resolve building accessibility issues that occasionally arise, such as elevator not working, doors locked, or paths or doorways blocked.
Assist faculty in preparing accessible versions of course materials for distribution or posting to Blackboard course websites.
Assist History Department with GTA activities and requirements. Work with faculty in charge to coordinate Philosophy Department Library and Logic Clinic activities.
Other duties directly related to department functions, as assigned.
