POSITION: Adjunct Instructor in Spanish Language
DEPARTMENT: Adult & Online Education - Online Only
STATUS: Part Time (Fall Semester II, Effective October 2020)
This position would teach one or more fully online courses, specifically in Elementary and/or Intermediate Spanish. The successful candidate must complete online teaching training prior to course commencement. Only candidates with a Masters or a Doctoral degree in Spanish Language instruction will be considered.
All online faculty at Company are expected to be very responsive to student needs and questions, and faculty must undergo training and certification before teaching may begin. The current opening is for a course taught during the Fall II term (starting in October, 2020). Available positions are conditional upon minimum student enrollment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook provided by the department chair.
Select and administer tests, assignments and online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to the course learning objectives.
Evaluate and assess student performance.
Post grades on the Blackboard Grade Center as well as Company’s Self-Service portal.
Maintain professional communications with students and staff at all times.
Respond promptly, no later than 24 hours, to student emails and requests for assistance.
Successfully complete Company’s Powell training prior to teaching the course.
Uphold and abide by Campell University's policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and FERPA guidelines.
Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice by the Assistant Dean for Online Education.
Masters or Doctoral degree in Spanish Language instruction from an accredited university is required. All graduate work must be documented with official transcripts submitted to the university upon request.
Teaching experience in online education is desired.
Experience in teaching adult students is desired.
Experience working with Blackboard learning management system is desired.
Industry experience is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written channels.
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with University trustees, faculty, staff, and students, as well as members of the business community and public at large.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as other standard methods of digital communication.
Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
Adapatbility, flexibility and willing to work in a changing environment.
