Duties: Position Description: Please Note: Students @ Work Internships Program dates are September 21-December 3. Interns are paid at minimum-wage and relocation is not provided. Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN SCHOOL DURING THE TIME OF THIS INTERNSHIP).
Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to your arrival if accepted to the program.

Department: CNN Medical News is the health, wellness and medical unit of CNN. The Chief Medical Correspondent and Senior Medical Correspondent provide CNN with all of the latest medical news from daily studies, conferences, and a variety of topics including cancer, AIDS/HIV, fitness, nutrition and public health policy.
Internship Description: Interns gain insight into the editorial process, while interning with CNN s Medical Unit in Atlanta. They will strengthen their research skills while contributing to live segments and package production, blogs on CNNHealth.com and Sanjay Gupta, MD. They will also participate in staff meetings, and have the opportunity to accompany producers on story shoots. Interns will learn how scripts are written and how to use various CNN databases for research and video to locate elements for on air segments and pieces. They will learn the story development process of how a story goes from an idea to a script and then through edit to become a TV or digital piece for our website: cnnhealth.com.
Qualifications: Junior or senior in college. Interest in medical news. Outstanding research skills. Ability to take direction and work independently. Journalism experience and multi-media knowledge a plus. Should be prompt, proactive, courteous, inquisitive, and professional at all times. Awareness of how television news is written and how video is chosen for scripts are a plus.
Intern schedules will vary depending on which project or team they are working on.
